Alicante-Elche Airport registers the best January in its history
A total of 795,148 passengers passed through the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernándezairport during the month of January. The figure represents 1.3% of the data for the same month of 2019, that is, a year before the start of the pandemic, and registering the best month of January in its history, with an increase in traffic of 68.1% compared to January last year, according to data provided by Aena . A volume of passengers in which the high number of international flights has weighed above all, especially from the United Kingdom that continues to be the main source of tourists to the Costa Blanca.
Of the total number of travelers registered in January, a total of 793,973 corresponded to commercial passengers, of which 659,851 traveled on international flights, while 134,122 did so on domestic flights. After the health restrictions, the number of foreign passengers represents a recovery of 98.9% compared to January 2019 and 67% more than in 2022. As for domestic passengers, they represent 15% more than before the pandemic and 73.4% more than last year.
