From Housdedeluxe we want to talk on this occasion about a very beautiful place of our wanted Valencian Community.  Very close to Benidorm we have a haven of peace between so much sun and beach tourism. I'm talking about the Fuentes de Algar, a sequence of several waterfalls that you will be able to see in a super simple route and suitable for all audiences. And best of all, bathing is allowed in this paradise. A dip in an idyllic place with crystal clear water isn't bad, right? Today I am going to tell you all the details of the  route through the Fuentes de Algar, the green paradise of the Costa Blanca.
Las Fuentes de Algar has been declared a protected wetland of the Valencian Community. Getting here is very simple and this makes it one of the most visited places in Alicante. It is open all year round, the entrance is paid, but very economical and spending a day here is a perfect plan, especially if you travel as a family. In addition, in the immediate vicinity you will find great plans and villages to complete the day. Surely you already want to know.
Where are the Fuentes de Algar?
The Fuentes de Algar are located in the interior of Alicante, in Callosa d'en Sarrià, a very interesting town where everyone goes to visit this natural treasure. In addition, it is very close to other very touristic towns. For example, the Fuentes de Algar are only 15 kilometers from Altea(less than 25  minutes by car) and 19 kilometers from Benidorm, 30 minutes by car.

Visit the Fuentes de Algar: entrance fee and opening hours

Once we have parked the car to visit the Fuentes de Algar we are ready to go to the main entrance. There you will have to pay the amount of the ticket. The price to pay depends on the season you are going in. If you go in high season it is 5 euros, the rest of the year 4 euros. The entrance for children from 4 to 10 years old is 2 euros. Children under 3 years old are free.
The schedule to visit the Fuentes de Algar depends on the time of year you go. It opens every day of the year at 9 in the morning, except December 24, 25 and 31 and January 1 and 6 which are holidays and remains closed. The closing time depends on the month,  in summer it closes at 20 h in the afternoon and in winter it closes at 15.30 or 17 h. I recommend you check the information on the website.

Route through the Fuentes de Algar

When I say that the route is very simple I assure you that I am not exaggerating. The route is only 1.5 kilometers, runs along a flat road, with hardly any slope and mostly asphalted. But that does not take away a hint of magic for the beauty of the waterfalls and the surroundings. The road runs parallel to the Algar River that flows into the town of Altea. Did you know that the name of the river comes from the word cave in Arabic?
If you enter through the main entrance the first thing you will see as soon as you take a few steps is the famous waterfall that represents the symbol of this place. It is the most beautiful waterfall to see in the Fuentes de Algar and the highest of all. Right next door is the Toll de la Caldera. Maybe right now you're wondering what tolls are. They are still pools of water that are formed following the natural course of the river that has a super clear hue. Once here I recommend you continue the way up to see Toll  Blau and  the Toll de la Presa  and its mini waterfall. These areas are intended for bathing. I went in winter and obviously taking a dip like I didn't feel like doing much, but just to enjoy the road, the waterfalls and that transparent water seemed like a planazo. What most characterizes this place beyond the river and waterfalls is the karst landscape. If you continue climbing upwards you will reach an area where the river narrows, the landscape changes but is still spectacular. Once we reached the highest point of the road we undid our steps to return to the area of the main waterfall.
