NGEN commissioned Austria’s largest battery energy storage system (BESS). It installed it in record time – just seven months. Located in Fürstenfeld, in the country’s southeast, the facility has 24 MWh in capacity and a maximum output of 12 MW.
[pdf] The communication base station installs solar panels outdoors, and adds MPPT solar controllers and other equipment in the computer room. The power generated by solar energy is used by the DC load of the base station computer room, and the insufficient power is supplemented by energy storage devices.

The Ministry of Climate Action and Energy is providing a total of €15 million ($16.1 million) to support the installation of new storage systems and the expansion of existing systems used in combination with renewable energy.
