Dutch startup Ore Energy has connected its iron-air battery to the grid in Delft, the Netherlands. The company announced the system is the first of its kind to be fully operational and grid-connected in the world, while also being the first fully-built in the European Union.
[pdf] The Bisha BESS, owned by Saudi Electric Company , comprises 122 prefabricated storage units designed and supplied by China’s BYD. Each unit integrates a 6 MW power conversion system with four lithium iron phosphate battery modules, each boasting a capacity of 5.365 MWh.
[pdf] This landmark project, developed in partnership with Alfanar Projects, represents one of the largest BESS deployments in the Middle East and will play a pivotal role in advancing Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 by enhancing grid stability and renewable energy integration.
