Located in the city of Barranquilla in northern Colombia, this project will consist of a 45 MWh lithium-ion battery energy storage system and is expected to reach commercial operation by June 2023.
[pdf] The BESS comprises 27 containers, each of 2.5MWh capacity. The containers were designed and assembled by TotalEnergies’ battery subsidiary Saft. According to TotalEnergies, the project is built to ensure enough supply of electricity in the national grid, particularly during peak winter periods.
