SINEXCEL and Wasion Energy have announced the commissioning of the Coopesantos Wind Power Energy Storage System, a new grid-connected facility located in Costa Rica. The project is reported to be the first in Central America to feature SINEXCEL’s 1250kW energy storage inverter (PCS).
[pdf] Data from the Costa Rican Chamber of Distributed Generation (Cámara Costarricense de Generación Distribuida) reveal that in the country there are 2,000 roofs with solar panels for electricity generation, while another 1,000 are about to be installed in the coming months.
[pdf] According to the request for proposals issued on July 30, the program calls for 16 standalone projects, each rated at 10MW/40MWh, totaling 160MW/640MWh of four-hour storage capacity. Selected developers will design, build, own, and operate the systems under 15-year agreements.
