Developed by Norwegian renewables company Scatec ASA, in partnership with Egypt’s national grid operator, Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), the project combines 1GW of solar power with 100MW/200MWh of lithium-ion battery storage.
[pdf] Northern Lights is the world’s first cross-border CO 2 transport and storage facility. In August 2025, the first CO 2 volumes were injected and successfully stored in the reservoir. Carbon capture and storage will play a major role in the Norwegian climate solution.
[pdf] In 2022, BAIC deployed a 100 MWh storage array paired with wind turbines in China’s Qinghai province. The results? Grid stability improved by 40%, and curtailment rates (that’s energy waste for non-industry folks) dropped to 2.7%.
