State House, Freetown, Thursday, 5 June 2025 – In a landmark step toward sustainable development and inclusive energy access, His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio is set to officially launch the Salone Off-grid Renewable Energy Acceleration Initiative (SOGREA), a €34 million (approximately 830 million New Leones) solar minigrid project that will significantly advance Sierra Leone’s green energy future.
[pdf] In a recent project on a large, densely populated island, DEPCOM modeled 15 different battery systems with varying technologies and multiple system configurations against local requirements to save millions in avoided augmentation, replacement and installation costs.
[pdf] The collaborative project “ AddESun ” aiming to safeguard the future of lead-acid batteries was launched in September 2017. The list of project goals includes a more sustainable production, improved charging behavior, longer service life and higher power density.
